Booking a Flight

Charter Flights: The flight time to Izmir airport from the UK is on average 4 hours. Charter flights operate to Izmir, Adnan Menderes every Thursday during the months May to October from the following UK regional airports: Gatwick, Stansted, East Midlands, Manchester and Newcastle. When booking your flight, you may need to quote the airport code ADB, as some companies do not automatically recognise Izmir airport on their systems.

Flight prices vary depending on the time of travel. The most expensive times to travel are dates falling on and around the school holiday periods, or UK Bank Holiday dates.

Scheduled Flights: British Airways fly direct to Izmir airport from London Gatwick Airport several times a week throughout the year. Currently their fares are competitively priced, especially when booked well in advance. Cyprus Turkish Airlines operate a direct flight to Izmir Airport, leaving Heathrow airport on Mondays and Saturdays, and Stansted airport on Fridays.

It is advisable to book scheduled flights well in advance as this allows you to obtain better value fares unlike, the charter flight operators, who reduce their flight prices extremely close to the departure date. You can also fly to Izmir daily, with various other scheduled flight operators which involves 2 flights. E.g. Heathrow to Istanbul, Istanbul to Izmir, (with Turkish Airlines) Heathrow to Munich, Munich to Izmir (with Lufthansa ), Manchester to Istanbul, Istanbul to Izmir (with Turkish Airlines).

Please find below a list of companies that will be able to assist you in the booking of your flight. When booking your flight, do not forget those little extras - such as do you want to upgrade for more legroom? Do you need to remember to book a vegetarian meal? Remember to ask the flight operator at the time of booking so that you're not disappointed at the start of your holiday.

Please note, that the information provided on how to book a flight is for guidance, and whilst it is accurate to our knowledge, flight schedules are subject to change. Furthermore, the booking is between you and the flight operator of which the owners of Villas in Turkey are unable to accept any liability.

Transfers

Transfers take one hour from Izmir, Adnan Menderes Airport. Villas in Turkey advise the pre-booking of car hire, car or mini bus transfers. We can book these on your behalf. Prices on request.

Should you book a private car transfer for up to 4 people, please consider if this will be suitable for the size of your party and luggage, as the seating arrangement will be driver, 1 adult in the passenger seat and 3 people in the back. The driver reserves the right refuse passengers should the party with its luggage mean the car is excessively loaded breaking legal and insurance requirements. We normally advise that a private car transfer is best suited to 3 adults, or 2 adults and 2 small children. For 5 people or more we can book a mini bus transfer.

Car Hire

Should you wish to explore the region at your own pace and discover secluded bays and villages off the beaten track then car hire is advisable. Some of the local companies will pick you up and return you to the airport free of charge if you hire a car for one week or more. We can arrange car hire on your behalf and you pay the local car hire company on your arrival.

Holiday Insurance

It is a condition of booking that you protect yourself and the rest of your party by taking out adequate holiday insurance, should you find yourself in the misfortunate position of needing to use it. There are various competitive deals available on holiday insurance, however it is advisable to shop around and obtain a policy that offers you a good level of cover. A good starting point is your local post office or bank. Alternatively look in yellow pages or on the internet for specific insurance companies.

At the very least it should cover, cancellation of, or cutting short, your holiday, illness or injury while you are away; loss or theft of your belongings; delayed or missed connection and liability for accidents to others. Also, if you plan to try out sports or activities on holiday that could be considered hazardous, such as scuba diving, a standard policy may not cover you. You may be able to get this added to your insurance. If not, you need to arrange a specialist policy.

Important things to consider when buying your holiday insurance.

  • Make sure you understand what you are covered for and what you are not
  • Take as much care with your possessions as you would if you were uninsured
  • Take the insurers contact details with you and a copy of your policy - always call them for consent if you are booking something which will form part of your claim
  • Keep bills and receipts to support your claim
  • Know what's expected of you - if you are claiming for a stolen item, have you notified the police?
